Urban folk & country blues, a little bit of jazz and a whole lot of Celtic soul that is what these two vintage blues mamas bring to the table, delivering a slick program of original composition, eloquent Dylan arrangements and classic jazz and blues by the likes of Billie Holiday, Fats Waller Josh White, Johnny Cash and more.
Izzy Miller Bell aka Ma Bell heralded to be one of NZ’s most musical Scottish imports (NZMM July 2003) arrived on our shores in the late eighties and has gone on to establish a solid respected reputation as a folk blues jazz singer songwriter, performance artist and producer, the face behind Miller Bell Productions & The Pop-Up Concert Series.
Susan Leigh Grant is the other half of this impressive musical partnership. She is a two-time Gore Golden Guitar award winner who plays a mean slide guitar while at the same time bringing an innovative sensitive approach to the wooden body finger-style making her the perfect accompaniment to the gutsy chocolate hazelnut voice of Ma Bell.
