Ampersand Local Jazz Trio

Local jazz trio Ampersand are offering up their flavour of jazz at Fairfield House.

The band consists of:

Brett Holland (guitar and vocals),

Fraser Campbell (bass)

Tony Bowater (drums).

They perform a mix of vocal tunes and instrumental songs. For NZ Music Month they will be performing some original tunes, premiering two new tunes, an instrumental called Majority and a vocal penned Fly In The Salad.

The three musicians first played together 15 years ago in the Mister Nobody Quintet, performing regularly on the local jazz scene, at the Nelson Jazz Festival and at the Nelson Arts Festival.

With Brett moving back to the area, he and Tony rekindled the jazz flame and are thrilled Fraser has recently joined them, debuting earlier this year at the Founders Jazz in the Park series.

They perform a handful of original tunes along with their take on standards by Herbie Hancock and John Scofield among others.
