Tī kōuka Handbrush Workshop
Learn how to make a hand brush using locally sourced resources, tī kōuka (cabbage tree) leaves and hazel wood. Your brush can be used for all sorts of jobs, from the workshop bench to the kitchen floor. Techniques and skills that will be covered during the course of the class include cord-making using our tī kōuka string-making technique, basic draw knife practice, hand-drilling and fibre preparation.
Please note: All materials and tools will be provided. But, if you have access to tī kōuka / cabbage tree leaves, do bring in as big a bundle as you can! Also bring an intention or job for your brush and if time allows we can work to tweak the brush for the specific job.
This class is suitable for adults only.
